AKEL Deryneia for TA Reform: "We insist on union with Frenaros and Acheritou"

AKEL Deryneia speaks in an announcement about the expediencies of certain parties and the need for control over every scientist who forces them to expose and refute what they themselves said in the previous period regarding the reform of the Local Government

According to the announcement, some parties and MPs, in the last session of the Interior Committee, tried in every way to eliminate the semi-occupied Municipality of Deryneia and what it stands for.

The same announcement also adds that, at the same time, all this is in complete contradiction with their arguments about the need for sustainable municipalities and mergers of municipalities with common characteristics, when they submit an amendment to preserve the Municipality of Aradippou and not merge it with the Municipality of Larnaca.

AKEL Deryneia complains that this is a mockery and an attempt to serve party expediencies and directly asks questions to the parties and their MPs who voted for these amendments:

• "What is the difference between the acritic Municipality of Athenaeus, for which the issue of abolition was never raised and which is properly maintained due to its political importance, with the acritic and semi-occupied Municipality of Deryneia, but its abolition is proposed?"
• "By what economic, population and social criteria is the preservation of the Municipality of Aradippou finally proposed?"

The announcement continues with complaints stating that there are methods of some parties and their deputies, who observe two measures and two weights, depending on their party and voting needs.

AKEL Deryneia emphasizes again, the political importance of the Municipality of Deryneia for our national issue, as well as its ability to remain viable and an example of good administration, despite the difficulties.

While the announcement reiterates the position of AKEL Deryneia, for strategic development of the Municipality through the merger with the neighboring and neighboring entities of Frenaros and Acheritos, which with the resolution of the Cyprus issue and the liberation of Famagusta, will be merged with it.

They therefore call on the specific parties to stop the party games and to consider the magnitude of the anger they have caused to the citizens of Deryneia, as well as to revoke their amendment, maintaining the Municipality of Deryneia.

Finally, AKEL Deryneia, considers the amendment blatantly unfair and unsubstantiated and for this reason emphasizes that it will take all necessary measures until the amendment is revoked.
