Metropolitan Vassilios: "Famagusta is Christian and Greek" (VIDEO)

His displeasure and anger over the passive attitude of the leaders and other institutions of the European Union, around the illegal actions of Turkey in the occupied city of Famagusta (Varosia), was expressed by the Most Venerable Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta.

Speaking in a live web chat at Famagusta.News and to its editor-in-chief, journalist Marino Pavlikka, on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, the pastor of the occupied metropolitan area of Constantia and Famagusta, did not hide his anger for what is happening in recent months in the besieged city of Famagusta and behavior of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to organize a "picnic" in a city whose churches "roar by themselves for its Christianity and Greekness."

See the relevant excerpt:

He revealed that he had sent a strong letter of protest to all the institutions and leaders of the European Union, expressing his dissatisfaction, sadness and criticism of the behavior of Europe, which can not behave in this way and "Caresses" the Turkish President because, most likely, they have their interests in the country of the second.

"You can not sell equipment to a country that uses it to kill innocent people and lead to genocides (see Armenians, Greeks of Asia Minor, Turkish invasion 1974) by national cleansing or as it is now doing in Nagorno-Karabakh." , emphasizes among other things in his multi-page letter.

All this behavior of Europeans has led to despair for all of us and this was not what was expected. He even mentioned that he was one of the first people who had embraced the idea of a united Europe, but the current attitude and behavior of the Europeans causes great frustration and sorrow to the Cypriot people and to themselves.

It calls on everyone to show solidarity with the Cypriot people and to stop these unacceptable acts, while at the same time asking the question - Is there no ethics in politics? "If there was ethics, our European partners should not behave in this way," he added.
In the interview, he also referred to the spiritual meaning of tomorrow's great feast but also to the current or planned actions and events of the Holy Metropolis.
