The Republic of Cyprus requested the assistance of Greece and in particular the provision of Greek civil servants from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Development, Competitiveness and Shipping, Environment and Rural Development, for the staffing of Authorities not only in Cyprus but also in other countries.
In response, the Greek ministers D. Reppas, St. Dimas, Ev. Venizelos, A. Diamantopoulou, G. Papakonstantinou and K. Skandalidis, tabled an amendment for the "export" of civil servants to Cyprus.
As stated in the amendment, “due to the needs that will arise during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2012, the Republic of Cyprus requested the assistance of Greece and in particular the provision of Greek civil servants by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Development , Competitiveness and Shipping, Environment and Rural Development, authorities in Nicosia, Brussels and Geneva, in order to assist its work by providing expertise and for a period not exceeding 31 January 2013 ”.
It is noted that these employees will be paid their full salaries by the Greek state while the accommodation and living expenses will be fully covered by the Cypriot State.
Also, the Greek State will cover the travel and return expenses of these employees, which are estimated to amount to a total of approximately 3.000 euros.
