Russia confirms Turkish "embargo" on its grain

Turkey has decided to exclude them from the list of duty-free imports

Russia has confirmed that Turkey is imposing an "embargo" on grain coming from it, adding a new "cloud" to relations between the two countries that have recently been recovering from the downing of a Russian F-16 fighter jet in Syria. .

The grain market is not limited to Turkey, it is wide and well-formed and therefore when one part of it closes it means that we move to the other parts, said the spokesman of the Russian President Dmitry Peshkov, on the occasion of the ongoing Turkish embargo on Russian grain imports with an article by Ria Novosti broadcast by the Athenian News Agency.

It is worth noting that a week ago Turkey unexpectedly decided to exclude Russian cereals from the list of duty-free imports, which created problems for Russian cereal exports, as Turkey is the second largest importer of Russian cereals after Egypt.

The Russian Association of Agricultural Exporters, in a letter to Russian Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev, asked for help last week to resolve the issue and resume agricultural exports to Turkey, following Ankara's decision to impose on 15 March customs duties of 130% on imports of cereals from Russia. The Russian Association of Agricultural Exporters even said that Turkey had imposed an embargo on Russian agricultural products. The Turkish Finance Ministry has denied the embargo, but Russia's trade adviser in Ankara has said that Turkey has excluded Russia from the list of countries for which there are no customs duties.
