EU-Covid-19: The coronavirus is no longer a threat to societies

A new mutation of the coronavirus can appear at any time and possibly in areas of the world where vaccination rates and immunity are low, Health and Food Safety Commissioner Stella Kyriakidou said speaking to the Council of Health Ministers. The commissioner noted that the COVID19 pandemic is not over, but it does not pose a threat to societies.

"However, we cannot be complacent," pointed out Stella Kyriakidou. He also highlighted the solidarity shown by member states, while focusing on the fact that "vaccines remain our best tool" to keep "EU citizens safe" and protect national health systems and economies.
