Armed robbers targeted a luxury jewelry store in central Paris, near the Ritz Hotel in Vadom Square, and managed to seize 10 million euros in booty, according to police sources.
Two of the robbers were arrested while trying to escape and French police have launched a manhunt to locate their accomplices.
Police were alerted to the robbery around 12 noon and patrolled a car with three people on board, as well as two motorbikes.
The jewelry store belongs to the well-known Bvlgari chain and was recently renovated.
The perpetrators abandoned the car, a silver BMW, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.
A police officer shot and wounded one of the suspects in the leg, who was later arrested. Shortly afterwards, a second man was located and arrested, who had taken refuge in an underground car park in Forum de Al.
Parisian luxury jewelry stores have been targeted by robbers twice this summer: on July 27, a man on an electric skate snatched € 2 million worth of jewelery and gemstones from Chaumet, but was arrested the next day along with his accomplice.
Three days later, two men, armed with a teaser and a tear gas canister, snatched € 400.000 worth of jewelry from a Dinh Van chain store.
