As a movie: How a 32-year-old stole cars from the VW factory

In 2016-2018, the managers of the Volkswagen factory in the German city of Wolfsburg were in despair, as they found that some cars were disappearing without anyone smelling it.

In particular, according to the Bulgarian news agency BGNES, 70 brand new cars worth a total of three million euros were stolen during that period. These are models that had just left the assembly line and were inside the factory.

The mystery of how the cars "disappeared" despite the factory security measures was solved with his apology in court by a 32-year-old man from the Bulgarian town of Pernik. He was one of the perpetrators of the thefts.

His booty corresponded to 8 cars, five Tiguan and three Golf, which he carelessly exported to his country. Just a week later, it was discovered that the seven cars were registered in Sofia, while he did not hesitate to keep a brand new Golf for himself.

As it turned out, the man entered the factory undisturbed behind the wheel of an empty truck, taking full advantage of the factory's inadequate security measures. Characteristic, in fact, is the fact that the guards did not ask for a document certifying the right to enter the unit.

The 32-year-old Bulgarian did not just take advantage of the apparent indifference of the employees, but it seems that he had a thorough knowledge of the stages that mediate the production and the exit of the cars from the factory.

He knew the keys were in the cabin of the vehicle, and he had made sure he had an old loading list with him, which he showed to the security staff during his removal. His actions were "exposed" when the VW accountants sounded the alarm, while some security cameras took care of revealing his identity.

The case took legal action, with the 32-year-old Bulgarian sentenced to 2 years and 8 months in prison.
