Vaccine coverage and benefits

According to current data from vaccines worldwide, the effectiveness of vaccines is quite high and reaches up to 94%, while cases of infection COVID-19 in fully vaccinated individuals they are low and almost always mild or asymptomatic.

This finding, as well as the benefits of vaccinations, have begun to be recorded in Cyprus. Characteristically, and as shown by the recent national report, the cumulative effect in people aged 20-59 years, who have not yet been vaccinated at a high rate, is three times the cumulative effect in the age groups of 70-79 years and 80 years and above. At the same time, it is observed that at the ages when the vaccination coverage is at a fairly advanced stage, the percentage of cases recorded is much lower compared to the age groups that are currently vaccinated and the coverage rate is still low.

The following table shows the percentage of vaccination coverage, the percentage of cases and the cumulative impact per age group:

The risk of an unvaccinated person being severely (severely) severely or moderately infected with the virus is very high compared to people who have received the vaccine.

Currently, the vaccine against the disease is the only way to stop the spread and transmission of the virus and reduce the occurrence of mutations in the virus. THE encouraging response from citizens in the call for vaccination proves in practice that individual responsibility is identified and coincides with collective responsibility. The awareness of everyone of responsibility towards the whole and society will come to us lead to the fulfillment of the goal, which is none other than return to normalcy safely as soon as possible.
