Dr. Pana: "Even in church, let us be outside. It does not take us "

We had said that due to the prevalence and the most contagious executive, we would have to manage an extremely crucial situation, said in the SIGMA show "Front Page" Dr. Zoe Dorothea Pana, talking about the deterioration of the epidemiological picture in Cyprus.

Asked to comment on the fact that despite the increase in vaccinations, there is an outbreak of cases, Ms. Pana stated that "immunity is dynamic, it is not a situation in which you are vaccinated today and tomorrow you have protective antibodies. It also has to do with the percentage of the population which is vaccinated in order to create a wall to the invisible enemy ".

At this stage, he said, it is crucial to be careful because our weapons are very specific. We must abide by the measures, he stressed.

"What we see in Cyprus is a phenomenon we see in other countries, unfortunately the virus is a living organism that wants to survive and in this phase that feels the change in the field through vaccination, it will want to prevail," he said.

"We must implement the measures not because Pana or anyone else says so, but because we really want to get out of the difficult situation we are experiencing at this stage, and we will get out."

Regarding Easter, he noted that the Minister of Health requested the suggestions of the Epidemiological team.

At this stage, whether we are in church or elsewhere, we need to know how to protect ourselves, he said. If we can even in church be more outdoors, keeping our distance as there are infectious people who are asymptomatic and this can "boomerang us during the holidays and as you can see it does not take us," he added.

Asked to comment on whether there is a difference of opinion between the Ministry of Health and Epidemiological teams, she replied that the Minister and the President always respected and listened to the views of Scientists, but at some stages the pandemic may have gray areas, there is no absolute right and there is the issue of balances, he said.

Ms. Pana wanted to clarify that she has no conflict of interest, whether it concerns the pharmaceutical industry or something else.

My goal, he said, is the interest of the state.

"I do not want to get involved in internal discussions that make sense and in part help in both dialogue and decision-making, because my regular tactic is for something group to come out," he said.
