Increased cases and mutations of the virus are at the forefront, with the pandemic continuing to spread rapidly.
Speaking to Mesimeri kai Kati, the epidemiologist Dr. Michalis Voniatis stated that if we let things develop we will end up with worse situations.
"If we leave things unchecked we will end up in worse situations, we will have to close again if we continue like this with the cases," he said.
In the event of a new lockdown he said "If we reach the amen what else will we do?".
He later said: "We must all realize that we owe it to ourselves and to society as a whole to be vaccinated, because vaccination is the only documented way out of this situation."
Referring to the decisions of the Greek government for the compulsory vaccination, he said that he agrees specifically for the vaccinations of health professionals.
He further clarified: "The virus mutates in order to survive and we will continue to have mutations because the virus is circulating. "What we want to do in Cyprus with vaccinations is to stop the spread of the virus."
In closing, he clarified that there is no separation between vaccinated and unvaccinated, "simply non-vaccinated do not have immunity so the virus will go to them."
