A bill to regulate matters concerning start-ups and their investments is expected to be submitted to the Parliament within this year.
In an ex officio briefing that the Committee on Energy, Trade and Industry had on Tuesday, from those responsible for the preparation of the bill at the Deputy Ministry of Research and Innovation, it was stated that a three-member committee was established together with the co-competent Ministries of Education, Finance and TEPAK on the matter.
Subsequently, after a discussion, a special group was set up at the Ministry of Finance to prepare the bill. Before submitting the bill in question to the Parliament, as mentioned, the views of the Universities will also be taken into account.
In relation to the timetable it was also mentioned that the aim is to submit the bill within this time.
The President of the Trade Committee Kyriakos Hatzigianni said that he considers that two months are more than enough to complete the preparation of the bill and called on the authorities to submit it as soon as possible.
He also noted that the legislation that was passed about five years ago and concerns Universities, is particularly strict for researchers and persons with innovative ideas, as a result of which it remains inactive.
