A case against a candidate for MP for sexual abuse of a woman and specifically her allegations of rape were filed by the Larnaca District Court today.
According to information from KYPE, last week the Legal Service gave the green light to the Police to proceed with the registration of the case before the Larnaca District Court and then to be referred to a direct trial before a Criminal Court, since the accusation of rape is considered a crime.
The case concerns a complaint of a woman for alleged rape, ten years ago, by a person who is running for parliament in the upcoming elections.
The woman made her complaint known on Social Media in early April, and then made a formal complaint to the Police, while the candidate for MP gave his own allegations about the case.
Today the case was registered before the Larnaca District Court, which set May 18 as the date for referral of the candidate for direct trial to the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca - Famagusta.
