Leisure Centers: They ask for the continuation of the special support plans until the end of the year

Neophytos Thrasyvoulou, President of the Pancyprian Federation of Leisure Center Owners Associations (OSIKA), assessed that it is too early to cut the special plans, asking that they be continued at least until the end of the year.

In a statement, the position was expressed that it is "unacceptable the fact that only 40% of the employees of a company are given benefits". The recreation centers, it is noted, "suffered the most damage from the pandemic, as many are under-functioning and others were forced to put a padlock." This year's tourist season, it is estimated, "can not save the tragic situation in which most centers have fallen."

OSIKA demands "the continuation of the special plans, at least until the end of the year, as it was in the previous months and not like the month of August". It is estimated that now is the opportunity to extend the tourist season and eliminate seasonality "but through the appropriate and substantial support of the state". It is also reported that OSIKA has requested a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Tourism Savva Perdio to analyze the impact of the crisis on tourism and leisure centers in particular and to consider ways to deal with seasonality.
