The Ministry of Health announces that today, January 4 2022:
- 5 people died from the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 646.
- 209 patients COVID-19 of which 76 are in serious condition. 78% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.
- 15 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized in intubated condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
- A total of 122,801 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).
- 5457 (positivity rate: 4,44%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases in 183,178.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:
The 5 people who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, relate to:
- A woman, aged 73, who ended up on January 2 in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia.
- An 82-year-old man who died on January 3 at the Nicosia General Hospital.
- A 43-year-old man, who ended up on January 4 in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
- An 84-year-old man who died on January 4 at Paphos General Hospital.
- A woman, aged 55, who ended up on January 4 in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 646, of which:
410 men (63,5%), and
- 236 women (36,5%).
The average age of those who die from the disease is 76 years.
B. Patients:
In total, 209 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 76 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 76 patients in serious condition, 32 are intubated, 4 are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 40 to an intensive care unit.
