CYPRUS: He forgot to lock the room where he used drugs, says the child's father

A two-day detention order was issued today by the Limassol District Court against the 47-year-old father, who was arrested for illegal possession, use and supply of drugs, specifically cocaine, as well as for reckless and negligent acts and abuse of a child under 16, after in his 6-year-old girl traces of cocaine were detected in his urine.

According to his information Philenews, the 47-year-old after being arrested in his testimony stated that he has an underground space in his house, where he uses drugs. He also said that he does not rule out the possibility that his 6-year-old girl came in contact with his own amount of cocaine, as he allegedly forgot to lock the specific room.

The case came to light after a complaint from a chemist owner, after the 47-year-old and the 40-year-old mother went to a chemist on the 21st of the month with their two children, as the little girl was feeling unwell. The mother has even expressed suspicions as she told the chemist about third parties and specifically about the governess, who was guarding the minors.

From the results of the examinations, traces of cocaine were found in the 6-year-old. The chemist informed the 40-year-old and advised her to contact the Police immediately. Instead, on May 23, the day after the results, the suspect took her children and left Cyprus. Following this development, the chemist filed a complaint with the police. Arrest warrants were issued against the father, as well as the mother.

The 47-year-old wore handcuffs yesterday afternoon and a search was carried out at his home, where a difference of evidence was received. It should be noted that in a communication that YKAN members had with the 40-year-old mother, she told them that she intends to return to Cyprus without her children. He also said that the allegations he made in the clinical laboratory for third parties were false and only the 47-year-old was involved. Examinations and searches are expected for the drug supplier, while the mother is wanted.
