The Limassol District Court issued a detention order for a period of eight days against a 62-year-old and a 61-year-old man, who were arrested yesterday after locating a cannabis plant in the Pera Pedi community of Limassol province.
According to the Police, members of the Anti-Drug Service, after evaluating information, yesterday conducted investigations in two premises, based on a court order.
In one of them was found a specially designed room with a large number of cultivated cannabis plants, which were planted in plastic pots, as well as a large amount of green dry cannabis plant material.
Special lighting systems, ventilation, drainage devices, water tanks, as well as various other items were also found. A large sum of money was also found on various banknotes, which at first sight appear to be counterfeit.
In the adjacent premises, eight cultivated cannabis plants were found planted in pots, while further examinations revealed that, in both premises, there was an illegal operation on an EAC meter, which seems to have been intercepting electricity.
The 62-year-old and the 61-year-old were located at the scene and arrested for spontaneous offenses, while during interrogation they gave various allegations that are being investigated.
Subsequently, searches were carried out at the homes of the above persons, where in the house of the 62-year-old, in the presence of another person, a 60-year-old woman, 10 grams of cannabis and a crusher were found. The 60-year-old was arrested for a self-inflicted crime and then released to be summoned later.
The two suspects were taken to court in the morning, without being represented by a lawyer and did not object to their detention for a period of eight days, while later today they are expected to be taken to the scene, to be counted in their presence.
