Adiki characterized the decision of the Prosecutor's Office to file an objection to the second autopsy on 28-year-old Lesya.
Speaking to SigmaLive, private medical examiner Marios Matsakis, who was designated by the suspect as the medical examiner who will conduct the second autopsy, said that the Prosecutor's Office appealed the first instance decision to conduct a second autopsy. The autopsy was scheduled for yesterday at 17:00.
According to Mr. Matsakis, the Prosecutor's Office addressed the Supreme Court in order to request the annulment of the decision in question.
This, the coroner argues, will result in the unfair treatment of suspects and defendants in murder cases who may request second autopsies in the future.
"They don't want there to be a precedent... it is a serious matter if the second autopsy will be hindered from now on...", said Mr. Matsakis.
Today, moreover, the examination of the suspect by the private medical examiner is scheduled, while the decision on whether or not a second autopsy will be performed is also expected.
