The organization "Volunteer Doctors-Cyprus" departs on Monday for the Ukrainian-Romanian border, where it will carry out the first of a series of medical and humanitarian missions, with the aim of offering medical and pharmaceutical care, said Dr. George Makrysgianpos to KYPE. of the shipment.
Specifically, the six-member Cypriot mission, which consists of a physician, two pediatricians, two nurses and the volunteer, photojournalist of KYPE and member of the Board, Katia Christodoulou, will be in the Siret region of Romania, which is located on the border with Ukraine. The team will provide medical care to refugees, mainly women and children, said Dr. Makrygiannis. "The members of the mission will remain in the region until April 4, because the health systems of the countries hosting Ukrainian refugees are full, so the contribution of voluntary organizations is very important at this stage," he added.
Other Cypriot missions will follow at other points of transit of refugee flows to various countries, such as Poland, depending on where there is more need, said Dr. Makrygiannis. "We are the only medical team in Cyprus that goes voluntarily to different parts of the world and treats those in need. "We are not interested in race, color, nationality," he concluded.
