Two people, aged 24 and 21, were sentenced today to two and a half years in prison, following the trial of a case of aiding and abetting the illegal entry, transit and residence in the Republic, of a third country national. The 24-year-old and the 21-year-old were arrested by members of the Larnaca Police last November, for assisting four other people to enter the Republic illegally.
On the afternoon of November 20, in an area in Larnaca, members of the Police stopped a car in which six people were traveling. The driver of the vehicle was the 24-year-old, with the co-driver being the 21-year-old, who, as it was found from the examinations, helped the four other persons in the vehicle, aged 28, 26, 25 and 20, to enter the territory of Cyprus illegally. Democracy.
The 24-year-old and the 21-year-old were issued court orders and arrested for the purpose of investigating the case, while at the end of the police investigation, the Police proceeded to the immediate registration of the case for trial by the Larnaca District Court.
After the Court, evaluating the evidence presented before it by the Prosecution Authority, found the 24-year-old and 21-year-old defendants guilty, this morning imposed on them two and a half years in prison.
