The mother of 14-year-old Lilys is shocked: The pain does not go away, it becomes deeper

Lily was just 14 years old when she passed away on February 13th, 2021. She entered the Hospital on February 1st where she was diagnosed with the rare disease, Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).

Her mother, Mary Kyriakou, now has one and only goal, to raise awareness and mobilize the medical world for this rare disease. So she wrote a book called "Thoughts of a Grieving Mother" to raise more money for research and build a community for HLH.

Two years later, Mary Kyriakou shocks with what she mentions in Mesimeri and Kati. "Today marks two years since the evil with Lily's illness began. The pain doesn't go away, it gets deeper. At first you have the protection of numbness, you try to realize what has happened. As time progresses, however, this is revealed. I feel like I'm skating on wet concrete. But I'm not going to fall, I made a promise to my daughter since she was born."

He went on to say that writing the book was a kind of therapy. “This is Lily, she is alive, she is joy. It is not only the 16 days that the book describes. Lily is more than that. With the book I wanted to offer support to families who are going through these difficult times without support. I had no support. There is no".

"It's a rare (disease). But what does rare mean? Why don't they know how to diagnose? Or is it rare because few people get it?", he said characteristically.

He explained that "on the 17th of February we will be launching the book at Lily's school, at the Forum on the Island, and I would really like someone who has the power to help make a link." Mary Kyriakou referred to her efforts to contact the Ministry of Health which were unsuccessful.
