The Ministry of Health announces that today, January 18 2022:
- 5 people died from the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 687.
- 257 patients COVID-19 of which 89 are in serious condition. 69,65% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.
- 17 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized in intubated condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
- A total of 104,965 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).
- 2,200 (positivity rate: 2,1%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases in 230,856.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:
The 5 people who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, relate to:
- An 89-year-old man who died on January 17 at the Nicosia General Hospital.
- A man, 90 years old, who ended up on January 18 at the General Hospital of Famagusta.
- A woman, aged 86, who ended up on January 18 at Paphos General Hospital.
- An 67-year-old man who died on January 18 at the Limassol General Hospital.
- An 83-year-old man who died on January 18 at the Limassol General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 689, of which:
434 men (63%), and
- 255 women (37%).
The average age of those who die from the disease is 76,1 years.
B. Patients:
In total, 257 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 89 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 89 patients in serious condition, 38 are intubated, 4 are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 47 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
