Two kilos of cannabis were found and confiscated yesterday, during a YKAN operation in Larnaca, while two persons were arrested to facilitate the investigations.
After evaluation of information, provided by YKAN, around 12.35pm. Yesterday, members of YKAN signaled to the driver of the vehicle, which was moving on a road in Larnaca, to stop for inspection.
As soon as the driver of the vehicle noticed the members of the Police, he developed speed in order to avoid control.
Due to the speed it developed, it collided with two official vehicles causing extensive damage.
The 36-year-old's vehicle was immobilized due to the collision and he was arrested for the spontaneous offenses of negligent and reckless acts.
A subsequent physical search found the 36-year-old in possession of a plastic container containing about 4 grams of cannabis as well as a crusher containing traces of cannabis and was re-arrested.
Subsequently, during the search of the detainee's car, eight nylon packages containing cannabis, weighing a total of 2 kilos and 69 grams, were found.
As a result of the collision of the vehicles, two members of the Police were transported to the Larnaca General Hospital where, after receiving first aid, they were discharged, while they were given sick leave.
The two vehicles of the Police as well as the car of the 36-year-old, suffered extensive damage.
For the case, a testimony emerged against a 37-year-old man also from the Larnaca district who was located and arrested on the basis of a court order issued against him, around 9 last night.
A search of his home and vehicle followed without finding anything reprehensible. However, two of his mobile phones were confiscated for further scientific examinations.
