Noise pollution drives tourists away - How the Mayor of Ayia Napa and the Minister of Interior comment

The peak of another tourist season is approaching, with the "decibels" going up annoyingly for locals and tourists.

Noise pollution is an unsolvable problem over time, due to the inability of the state to take, but also to implement effective measures.

Superficial controls, fines - caresses, and a legislation inactive since its enactment in 2016, compose the chaotic scenario, which, according to hoteliers and mayors, expels quality tourists.

The Mayor of Ayia Napa also said this yesterday in SIGMA, as he was explaining the reasons, the Russian tourists were significantly reduced.

The existence of the problem is acknowledged by the Minister of Interior, who spoke to SIGMA.

He argues that the legislation is impossible to implement this year, for practical reasons, which include the time it takes businesses, he said, to procure the necessary equipment.

The goal, said Mr. Petridis, is for the temporary measures to be implemented immediately, before the summer season peaks.
