He even put in prosthetic limbs: Author lives like... a goat to escape the stress of everyday life

A writer thought of a different way to get rid of the stress of everyday life and decided to become one goat.

No bills to pay, no work to do - just tending to a field eating grass, sounds strange to some but seems ideal to others.

However, there is not much people can do to transform themselves into goats and escape the responsibilities of everyday life, but a few years ago the author Thomas Thwaites proved otherwise.

In his book GoatMan: How I Took A Holiday From Being a Human, Thwaites describes how he adopted prosthetic hooves and tried to eat grass in order to live more like a goat, since for years he believed that life would be much less stressful as an animal.

In an interview on BBC Radio 4's Today Programme, Thwaites recalled thinking as a child that he wouldn't need to go to school if he was a cat, later basing his wishful thinking after watching the "happy and cheerful" his niece's dog.

Thwaites spent nine months trying to live like a goat, while his funding helped pay for prosthetic limbs, including two extra legs and hooves, made by a doctor at the University of Salford's prosthetics clinic.

He also considered getting one fake stomach which would have helped him digest the grass, but he was forced to abandon that plan due to health warnings.

The author eventually traveled to a farm in the Alps to fully immerse himself in the life of the goats, after which he described the three-day farm experience as "a special kind of time".
