It was in the 80's, when a strong personality with a sense of humor appeared on "The Tonight Show" to present a small number in the show. He is 21 years old Jim Carey, which manages to cause a sensation, but also the interest of the people. And later, however, when he appears on the stage of In Living Color, he makes the audience laugh with his unsurpassed talent in comedy. And everyone agreed that the young man came to stay, having in front of him all the backgrounds for a brilliant career in comedy. And they were solemnly confirmed.
Success soon came and Jim Carrey with "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" and the movie "The idiot and the idiot" shakes the movie bank in the air. And he becomes the new rising star of comedy who came to generously share laughter in the life of the world. And he succeeded. The only thing that the actor did not succeed in, was to bring laughter into his own life.
His battle with depression It has been around since adolescence and comedy has served as a protective shield for the actor. But without the result he would have liked, since the happiness in Carey's life were moments, which most of the time followed a sad, even tragic story. It was as if life wanted to remind him of the misery that had haunted him since he was a child, but also that the fact that he made others laugh did not mean that he should laugh too. The fear of death that led him to write a children's book
A few years ago, the famous actor issued this first children's book, «How Roland Rolls». And it was the fear of death, mainly, that led him to write it, as he wanted through his own experience to help children overcome their fears.
He has confessed, since he was a small child, he was afraid that his parents, who were manic smokers, would die. Especially, the possibility of losing his mother, was the one that flooded his soul with fear and did not allow him to live his age with the childish carelessness that suited her.
"I remember being locked in the bathroom and crying. "My parents from outside begged me to go out," Carey said. However, as he has said, his fear had been magnified by his mother, whom he remembers since he was 7 years old saying that he would die of a headache. That he did not feel well and others that may have been nothing in reality, but his own mind could not process it. Growing up he realized that his mother was saying all this to get everyone's attention. But it was too late for Jim Carrey. Fear was ingrained in him and he gave way to depression, which he still tries to overcome.
Homeless in adolescence and the humor that brought him to Hollywood

The suicide of his ex-partner and the court
Jim Carrey has gone through many "dark" periods in his life. Certainly, however, the one that followed after the suicide of his ex-partner Kathriona White, 2015 is the worst of his life. The 30-year-old make-up artist was found dead at her home in Los Angeles in September 2015 and an autopsy had shown that her death came from an overdose of prescription drugs, with the medical examiner talking about suicide.
Shortly afterwards, Cathriona's mother and her estranged husband Mark Wharton filed a lawsuit against the actor, on the charge that he had supplied her with drugs. The foreign press had just discovered the butter in his bread and Jim Carrey saw himself starring in the headlines. The pressure he receives is great and the truth with the lie is confused in a way that he himself can not control.
So, when he goes to trial, he tells the media: "It would be very easy for me to go into a room with this man's lawyer (he meant the father of his ex-partner) and eliminate this whole scenario but there are some moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honor against the evil that exists in the world. I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to take advantage of me or the woman I loved. The problems existed long before I met her and unfortunately her tragic end was beyond everyone's control ".
It took two years before the trial took place, a year ago, and during all this time one post followed the other at an incredible rate. Among other things, the actor was accused of supplying his ex-girlfriend with drugs, even giving her the fatal dose. She was also accused of having venereal diseases, while the light of publicity saw a letter which Kathriona had stored on her Ipad and, among other things, accused Carey of ruining her life, while "recommending it to cocaine, prostitutes, psychological violence and diseases".
The trial took place in February 2018 and the 57-year-old star was acquitted of all charges, since it did not appear that he was involved in any way in the suicide of the 30-year-old girl.
The love that "cracked" his heart
Jim Carrey married Melissa Womer in 1987, with whom they had a daughter, Jane. After their divorce and after he became famous, many women passed by him, such as Renee Zellweger, with whom they had a short engagement.
However, the woman he deeply loved and their separation broke his heart is Jenny McCarthy. They stayed together for 5 years with the actress coming very close to her autistic son, Evan who changed Carey's whole worldview.
McCarthy was the one who asked to divorce, because as she said, the actor "stopped making me laugh". And that she did not want to be identified as the companion of a celebrity.
Carey's new life and his anti-vaccine fight
After their separation, the Hollywood star found a way out (but also to fight depression) in painting. He even started sketching political content. In fact, the 57-year-old star had uploaded on Twitter a photo of a 15-year-old child with autism, writing that the vaccines were responsible. When the family saw the photo, they took legal action against him, stressing that their son had been diagnosed with autism before starting the vaccination. Carey had downloaded the post, apologizing.
The actor, today, although he has created a large fortune, since he was one of the highest paid in Hollywood, states that happiness is not in money. He has not yet discovered it, but he has managed to find those moments that look like sunshine in his depressed life.
