PHC is the core of any organized health system and forms the framework of prevention and primary care. It is the citizen's first contact with the health system, provides the first stage of treatment and cure, while it plays a key role in prevention.
The Management Department of OKYPY has under its supervision all the Health Centers of the Pancyprian Organization, in which the Personal Doctors (PI) have a dominant role, who together with the nursing and support staff build and maintain long-term health care relationships with patients. .
The role of P.I. and the registration process
The Personal Physician is the patient's first point of contact and acts as a health consultant, helping to discharge the specialist doctors of the secondary and tertiary units in the Hospitals.
Citizens can apply to the P.I. for any medical issue and after evaluating their condition, he will decide if he can serve them himself or if he will refer them to a doctor of a specific specialty for further investigation.
For registration in a personal doctor of OKYPY, the same procedure is followed that is valid for registration in any P.I. which is contracted with GESS. After the citizen chooses the available P.I. who wishes, can submit an application, either electronically through the website of GESS, or by visiting one of the Health Centers of the Organization, to complete his registration.
The largest network of Personal Doctors and Health Centers
OKYPY has the largest network of Personal Doctors in Cyprus -92 in total-, who work in 38 Health Centers (K.Y.) that cover geographically the whole of free Cyprus, even in remote areas.
The important work that is performed daily in the Health Centers of OKYPY, is also recognized by the citizens, since the number of registered beneficiaries in Personal Doctors of OKYPY exceeds 95.000.
