Wedding tourism is a form of tourism of special interest, which flourishes both because of fashion and as part of the tourism experience. Our main markets for wedding tourism are the United Kingdom, Russia, Lebanon and Israel, while the contribution of wedding tourism to the Cypriot economy amounts to € 110 million per year, as revealed by a survey conducted three years ago for this due issue by the Cyprus Tourism Organization. Tourist weddings are mainly divided into three provinces (Famagusta, Paphos and Larnaca), while Limassol and Nicosia occupy a smaller share of weddings.

Cyprus seeks to dynamically enter the map of wedding tourism due to the atmospheric photography spaces, but also for the small churches that are suitable for small wedding ceremonies. There is also a plethora of luxury hotel infrastructure, catering facilities and available venues for receptions and events for every season.

According to the most important findings of the relevant survey conducted in 2016, more than 40% of marriages come from the United Kingdom, more than 30% from Israel, about 10% from Lebanon and around 5% from Russia. Regarding the distribution of marriages by province: Larnaca 39%, Paphos 33%, Famagusta 22%, 4% Nicosia and Limassol 2%. Aradippou emerged as the first municipality in civil weddings with 21%, followed by Paphos with 16%, Larnaca with 15% and Ayia Napa with 13%.

It was found that in addition to 94% of civil marriages between tourists from the UK and Lebanon include a reception and / or stay with about 30 participants per wedding, while civil marriages between tourists from Israel and Russia in the majority (78% and 52% respectively ) include only the wedding ceremony with about 10 participants per wedding.
