Meeting of Averof Neophytou with C. Stewart on Turkish actions in Varosia

The President of the Democratic Alarm and candidate for the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Averof Neophytou, had today a meeting with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Head of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, Mr. Colin Stewart, at the party's offices.

During the meeting, a discussion and exchange of views took place on the current situation in Cyprus and the dangers for the security and prosperity of all Cypriots, the continuation of the current unacceptable status quo, but also the efforts made to resume the dialogue, including of Confidence Building Measures.

Mr. Neophytou also raised with Mr. Stewart the issue of the continuation of the illegal actions of Turkey and the occupying authorities in the area of ​​the enclosed city of Famagusta, receiving the assurance that the United Nations continues to closely monitor the Turkish actions while the position of the organization for the return of Famagusta remains unchanged in accordance with the relevant resolutions and decisions of the Security Council.
