According to the GTP, Jeni Bakis - who had written several weeks ago on the subject - under the title "Reservations for hotels in Varosi have begun" recalls that the Turkish businessman had announced some time ago that he bought 3 hotels from their owner in the closed area, which "went off like a bomb," as he reports.
The businessman had also stated that after a short period of time he would open the hotels for reservations for the year 2025, which he did. The newspaper writes that yesterday the businessman in question – whose name is still not mentioned – contacted Jeni Bakis and informed them that he bought another hotel in the closed area of Varossio – the fourth – 22 apartments 3+1, 34 apartments 2 +1, 30 apartments 1+1 and 20 acres of land.
The businessman said he was happy to have taken such an initiative for Varosi, which has remained closed for 49 years, he was very encouraged by the "positive attitude" of Turkey and the pseudo-state in this matter, and plans to build an amusement park and beach club inside on 20 acres of land and plans have already begun to be prepared.
Speaking to the newspaper, the businessman claimed that soon Varosi will live its old days and mentioned that 29 other hotel owners have submitted proposals to him to buy their hotels and he is evaluating them.
Recalling a statement by the "Minister of Transport" Erhan Arikli that Varosi can be removed from the status of a military zone by a "council of ministers" decision, the businessman said that in this way the hotels he bought can be opened for use.
Noting also the "positive", as he described them, statements of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on the subject, the businessman said that for this reason he decided to open for reservations for 2025.
"As of today, reservations for the closed Varosi have been opened for the whole world. If our government, by decision of the cabinet, removes Varosi from the military zone, I will renovate the buildings of the properties I bought an hour earlier and make them usable. However, if this is not possible, I regret to say that we will be forced to cancel all bookings in September 2024." He also said that it is an event that gives him special pride that the new illegal airport is opening in the occupied territories and that it coincides on the same days.
The businessman in question states that he appreciates the position of the Turkish side and Turkey for two separate states, but also their position on the issue of Varossia. Because of this attitude, Turkish businessmen take courage and make investments, he said. He added that jobs would be created and called the decision announced yesterday to build a marina for private yachts near the closed area a big step for the pseudo-state.
