A 53-year-old man from Avgorou was arrested for illegal possession of 41 grams of dry cannabis plant material.
According to the Police, members of the Famagusta Squad of YKAN went around 17.45 yesterday afternoon to the home of a 53-year-old retiree from Avgorou, to execute a court search warrant.
During the search carried out in the presence of him and his 51-year-old wife, a quantity of dry cannabis plant weighing 20 grams wrapped in paper and a nylon package containing 21 grams of dry cannabis plant material were found in the house.
The 53-year-old was arrested and in a written statement admitted to possessing drugs.
His wife was questioned in writing and after nothing was found against her he was released.
The 53-year-old was taken into custody and later today is expected to appear before the District Court of Famagusta for the issuance of a detention order.
The case is being investigated by the Famagusta Ladder of YKAN.
