The 34th Ayia Napa International Festival is hosting a cultural heritage exhibition for the second year in a row, with the participation of the famous "Guangzhou Opera House Art Troupes' Visit to Eurasia" from Guangzhou, China.
The exhibition of the Archaeological Museum "Nanyue Palace" of the city, Guangzhou entitled "The Broad China Sea", opened its gates to the public from 6 to 30 September 2018 at the Archaeological Municipal Museum "Sea" of Ayia Napa.
The aim of the exhibition and the musical performance is to promote Chinese culture, tourism and business development, but also to consolidate a long-term cooperation between the two cities on the basis of the memorandum of cooperation, signed by the Mayor of Ayia Napa and the Mayor of Guangzhou last in Guangzhou. A memorandum of cooperation was also signed with the Archaeological Museum "Nanyue Palace".
Within the framework of the International Festival, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Giannis Karousos, declares September 27th a day of Cypriot-Chinese cooperation and especially with the City of Ayia Napa. On the same day at 18:30 at the Sea Museum, the Mayor inaugurates the opening of the Chinese Cypriot cultural events. An official delegation from China, representing the Guangzhou Archaeological Museum, as well as officials from Cyprus will attend the inauguration.
Finally, on September 27, 2018 and before the official events of the Festival, in the Central Square of the Municipal Museum "Sea", an event will be presented, which will present the way of serving the traditional Chinese tea, dance performance "The Cyprus of tradition" by the Ayia Napa Dance Club, a performance by Chinese Artists who will present a traditional instrumental show entitled "Extolling Good Times with Singing and Dancing", the Puppet Show, "Long Silk Dance", the Konton Opera "BailongGuan" and representation of the Cyprus Wedding "Today the Sky shines", by the Music Band and the Dance Ensemble of the Municipality of Deryneia, "Drymio".
The exhibition
The exhibition of valuable objects, ancient documents and photography will take you on a journey through the history and philosophy of China, as well as the way they promoted its cultural, economic and commercial culture outside of Asia. This was achieved through the famous "Silk Road" (One Belt and One Road) in three directions. One direction was from Central Asia to Russia and Europe, the second through Central and Western Asia to the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean, and the third from China to Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Indian Ocean.
The "Silk Road" in the 21st century, focuses on navigation in two directions. One extends from China's coastal ports along the South China Sea to the Indian Ocean and Europe, and the second from China's coastal ports along the South China Sea to the South Pacific. The report is divided into three sections:
- Establishment of the Nanyue Kingdom - Opening of the Port and start of trade,
- The entrepreneurship of the Tang government - meeting the big ships
- Sailing and flourishing for a thousand years
