Ayia Napa: With the contribution of lifeguards rescue operation in the Sea Caves (VIDEO)

A rescue operation took place last Sunday, September 5 at Sea Caves (Palathkia) at Cape Greco, when a tourist was injured when he attempted a dive.

As stated in a post by lifeguard of the Municipality of Ayia Napa Kyriakos Papantoniou, the lifeguards were the first to respond to the area and he himself went with a colleague using jet ski and with a wind of about 6, Beaufort in the area. According to him, they provided first aid to the woman and immobilized her after she was injured after falling into the water. Notified KSED which coordinated the operation in collaboration with Fire Service, Police, EMAK and Ambulance Service and of course with their very important contribution lifeguards of the Municipality of Ayia Napa which the official announcement of the KSED failed to point out.

On September 05, 2021 at 16:10, the Larnaca KSED received information regarding a person in danger, at the location Thalassines Spilies (Palathkia), in Cape Greco. KSED, immediately mobilized the Fire Service of Famagusta Station, EMAK, a speedboat of the Port and Maritime Police of Paralimni Station, as well as an ambulance of the Ambulance Service of the State Health Services Organization (OKYY). The young man (29-year-old American woman), who was injured due to his fall, was given first aid, stabilized on a stretcher and lifted by the Fire Department. She was then handed over to an ambulance of the Ambulance Service, which after providing pre-hospital care, transported her to Famagusta General Hospital. On the occasion of this incident, KSED reminds the public that, according to a decision of the competent state services, the approach and diving at the point of the sea caves in Cape Greco are strictly prohibited, as according to an inspection of the Geological Survey, the ground has been dangerous due to increased corrosion. ”
