Police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrator who today in the early morning hours opened fire outside a well-known cafe on Kryou Nero Street, injuring four people.

The scene remains blocked by the Police, which is conducting an investigation in an attempt to locate evidence that connects the perpetrator who remains missing.

According to the case file, at around 1:30 a.m. today, a hooded man who was in the vicinity of the flower shop, holding a Kalashnikov, passed in front of the cafeteria window and started shooting at a group of six people. The target, according to the information, was a well-known businessman in the area who was previously with them but had left at the time of the attack.

Two 38-year-old men, a 32-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were injured in the shooting and were taken by ambulance to the Famagusta General Hospital, where their health condition is out of danger, while the girl will undergo surgery.

Information from Famagusta.News reports that the perpetrator escaped through Archbishop Makariou Street, while other information states that he escaped on a motorcycle.

Police have given instructions to check all exit points of the Republic while members of the force are combing the area to locate the perpetrator. At the same time, the material from the security cameras installed in the cafeteria and adjacent premises will provide useful information.
