Ayia Napa: Four projects worth about 360 thousand euros are completed by the end of the year

A total of four projects, including parking spaces and a viewing point, are expected to be completed by the end of the year in the Municipality of Ayia Napa.

In his statements to KYPE, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zannettou, stated that in the context of the effort entitled "We are moving forward together, Ayia Napa is Worth it", four new projects are expected to be completed by the end of the year with the aim of upgrading the Municipality. Despite all the difficulties that the pandemic has caused in Ayia Napa and the chain effects on its operation, we will continue with hard work and perseverance to build projects for the good of both the place and the citizens as well as for the tourists who visit Cyprus. ».

He added that the first project concerns the construction of a parking lot for 120 cars located in the area "Melissi" and with the aim of serving both the citizens and the people who visit Ayia Napa. The space has been leased to the Municipality by the Department of Forests, its completion is expected by the end of September and is estimated to cost over 150 thousand euros ".

The second project concerns "the roof of the multi-storey car park, where the old post office located in the center of Ayia Napa is being completely renovated and upgraded. The aim and purpose of this area is to be a meeting place for cultural groups and youth, but also a new point for the creation of events, in order to further support the inner region of Ayia Napa ".

He also noted that "the area where the specific multi-storey car park is located, is adjacent to the road where the complete renovation of Tefkrou Anthia Street will take place with other adjacent streets. The project is expected to be completed within August and its cost amounts to about 120 thousand euros ".

According to the Mayor, "the third project concerns the viewing point located near the Police Station, an entertainment and relaxation area that will have outdoor fitness equipment and toys for children. In this area, the public will be able to exercise, read their books or just sit and relax enjoying the endless blue of the sea of ​​Ayia Napa ".

The project is expected to be completed around the end of August and its cost is estimated at around 30 thousand euros plus additional equipment for outdoor fitness equipment and toys for children.

The fourth and last project concerns the roundabout of the Police and according to Christos Zannetou, "it is the completion of the landscaping works of the specific roundabout located near the Ayia Napa Police Station. The works are completed around the end of July, the planting of plants and shrubs in mid-September and the cost is estimated at about 60 thousand euros ".

The Mayor of Ayia Napa also stated that "the immersion and completion works of the underwater museum have begun and are continuing, the inauguration of which is expected to take place at the end of July. "The underwater museum will include about 100 sculptures made on site by internationally renowned artist Jason Taylor and will be a new reference point for Ayia Napa tourism and more."
