A total of 18 people were found in the early hours of Monday, August 21, to be in a boat, which took on water and finally sank, in the sea area of ​​Cape Grkeco.

According to the Police, around 05.40 a boat was spotted sailing off Cabo Greco. Akatos of the Coastal and Maritime Police went to the area and located about 3 nautical miles from the coast, a boat about five meters long, in which a total of 18 people were on board, including 11 men, a woman with her three children and three unaccompanied 16-year-olds.

A member of the Coastal and Maritime Police went to the area, while the other two members of the Force also went to the scene for help, since the boat in which the 18 people were was taking on water and finally sank.

The two men picked up the 18 people and shortly after eleven in the morning they took them to the marina of Ayia Napa.

The third lieutenant of the L & N Police rushed the mother and her three children to the Ayia Napa marina, because one child had lost consciousness and had to be transported by ambulance to the Famagusta General Hospital for treatment.

After the necessary procedures, the 14 people will be transferred to the Center for the Reception and Hosting of Applicants for International Protection (Pournara).
