The Supreme Court is examining today the controversial case of the death of the little dog Billy and the Party for the Animals of Cyprus issued a relevant announcement.

The Announcement follows:

"The Party for the Animals of Cyprus informs that on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 9 o'clock in the morning, the hearing of the case of the death of the little dog Billy (July 4, 2014) begins in the Supreme Court.

We remind you that the incident of the barbaric abuse of Billy (which resulted in his death) happened in Ayia Napa in 2014.

From the autopsy the conclusion was that the death of the unfortunate Billy came from a cerebral hemorrhage as a result of a severe injury to the base of the skull (Billy was thrown alive into a carton crushing machine).

After many months of hearing, the two defendants (denying guilt) were acquitted (9/12/2015) in all the charges they faced, which related to causing the death of the animal. After the court decision, the Party for the Animals of Cyprus disagreed because there were several questions and ambiguities.

On 17/5/2015, the Party for the Animals of Cyprus, after a delegation meeting with the Attorney General, Mr. Costas Clerides, had handed over a relevant memorandum and requested that he examine the case to appeal the decision of the District Court of Famagusta.

The Attorney General had announced on 18/12/2015 that for the criminal case 4153/14 of the District Court of Famagusta an appeal was filed against the decision and he received a Criminal Appeal number 3/16.

The Party for the Animals of Cyprus will attend tomorrow at the Supreme Court where the hearing process begins, chaired by the President of the Supreme Court, Mr. M. Nikolatos."
