The construction of a new fire station and the adequate staffing of the existing one in the foreground for the government, with the aim of providing the best possible services in the area of free Famagusta.

Speaking at Famagusta.News, The spokesman of the fire service, Andreas Kettis, stated that an internal planning has already started in the service, so that our province can be upgraded and the problems can be minimized.

Specifically, according to Mr. Kettis, the construction of the new fire station in Ayia Napa has already been planned. The station will be built next to the police station and its completion is considered particularly important, because the station in Paralimni is located far from the popular tourist resort, which during the summer months hosts a particularly large number of holidaymakers. In addition, the creation of the marina and the skyscrapers, makes the need for a second station imperative.

The goal, says Andreas Kettis, is to minimize the response time of the fire brigade in case of emergency. The new station will cover both Ayia Napa and Liopetri, Sotira and the wider area.

Work is expected to begin in 2021 and be completed in two and a half years. Fifty-six firefighters and officers will staff the body and their training will begin immediately, considering that the young firefighters must undergo three years of training.

Regarding the existing station, the representative stressed that it will be strengthened, while within the year new recruitments will be made in order to have sufficient staff.
