Police are investigating the abduction of 16-year-old Romia Kumari from India. The case was reported to TAE Famagusta on Thursday night at around 20:20 by the young woman's mother and her partner.
According to the complaint, Romia left the house where she lives in Ayia Napa, together with her mother and her partner around 11.10 on the morning of Thursday, January 23, 2020, to go to a private college by bus on the line Agia Napa - Sotira. Shortly after 1.45pm yesterday, she contacted her family and said she would return home by bus again. She has been missing ever since, and the police have raised suspicions that the 16-year-old may have been abducted.
A police source said that so far the authorities have carried out investigations in various cases in an attempt to locate the minor, while a specific person who is said to be known to the young woman has been interrogated by the TAE offices. Authorities also have information and indications that an adult may not be involved in the investigation of the abduction of a minor. However, they express concern as no evidence has emerged that indicates a specific person.
