The investigations of the Police to locate a person who dived into the sea yesterday afternoon, from the boat in which he was riding with 18 other people, in the sea area of ​​Paralimni, continued today without any result.

According to sources of KYPE from the Police yesterday afternoon, the radars of the Port and Maritime Police located two boats with, apparently, illegal immigrants sailing in a sea area in Famagusta.

A boat of the Port and Maritime Police rushed to the spot and stopped a wooden boat with 69 people on board from Lebanon, while it was sailing 7 nautical miles off Cape Greco.

A second boat, carrying 19 people also from Lebanon, was stopped by a Port and Maritime Police boat in the sea area of ​​Paralimni.

At one point five of the 19 dived into the sea, with members of the Port Police throwing life jackets at them.
The three people were collected, one of them while he was near the police station, however, he refused to board it, however, after that it was possible to pull him out of the sea.

According to police sources, the fifth person swam away from the area. After locating his life jacket, an operation was set up by the Search and Rescue Coordination Center (KSED), with the participation of a Police helicopter to locate him.

In addition, a pregnant woman was admitted yesterday afternoon to the fishing shelter of Paralimni and then to the General Hospital of Famagusta, where after examinations were found that she is in good health.

The occupants of the two boats have been provided with food and water.
