Measures to deal with the coronavirus, such as the home society, were taken by the Diocese of Constantia - Famagusta during an extraordinary priestly meeting held on Wednesday, March 11, under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Vassilios.

A written announcement of the Diocese states that “during the meeting, proposals for the best possible protection and guarding of the faithful from the coronavirus were examined and discussed, based on the suggestions of the competent state authorities and the official announcement of the Holy Synod of the Church Of Cyprus ”.

It adds that "in addition to the responsibility of the local church committees for maintaining high levels of cleanliness of the temples and their constant ventilation, the faithful who attend the sacred services are called to observe the basic rules of hygiene."

In addition, "in order to avoid the large attendance at the churches during the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, Metropolitan Vassilios urged the clergy of the Metropolitan Region, where possible, to use the chapels that exist within the three parishes. The clergy will also perform the Divine Liturgy in other chapels that exist in the area ".

According to the announcement, "believers who show some symptoms and belong to vulnerable groups, it is better to stay at home and watch the sacred services on TV or the Internet (Metropolis website, Metropolitan Church website, Metropolitan Church Facebook page). Also, those of them who wish to commune, can invite the priests to commune with them at home ".
