As the press representative of the Fire Service Andreas Kettis stated in KYPE, “around 09.45 a fire broke out in a rural area in Liopetri. Two fire trucks from the Xylofagos Station and one from the Famagusta Fire Station responded. The fire burned olive trees, acacias and dry grass. "
He added that shortly before 10.30 in the morning, a call was received at the Famagusta Fire Station for a fire near the chapel of Agios Panteleimon in a residential area, in Paralimni.
According to Mr. Kettis, "three vehicles from the Famagusta Fire Station responded, two vehicles of the Forest Department, while the helicopter of the Police Aviation Operations Unit, which was in the area for training, dropped water".
The work of the firefighters became difficult as strong winds blew in the area, however, the fire that burned three hectares of low dry vegetation and wild grass did not endanger houses.
