The process of recording data of the illegal immigrants who were located today at noon on a boat off Cape Greco is still in progress at the fishing shelter of Agios Nikolaos in the area of Pernera of Protaras.
Check out the footage taken by Famagusta.News:
The Syrian ship was spotted sailing unmanned six nautical miles off Cape Greco around 2:20 p.m.
A boat of the Port and Maritime Police of Paralimni was mobilized as well as the unruly Onisilos of the Coast Guard in which the passengers boarded to be transported safely to land.
Around 6:30, the akatos of the port sailed near the fishing shelter of Agios Nikolaos, which could not enter due to its size and so the disembarkation of the migrants was done with inflatable boats of the port Police.
The exact number of passengers is estimated at around 122, although this will become clear after the completion of the registration of data by the relevant government agencies. Most appear to be from Syria, including families and unaccompanied minors.
The boat was towed to the fishing shelter of Agios Nikolaos, while after the data are recorded, all of them will be transferred to the Accommodation Center in Kokkinotrimithia.
