The Ministry of the Interior responds to the Municipality of Paralimni with stricter measures for the beaches

In an extraordinary meeting that took place in the morning at the Ministry. Inland, specific measures have been taken to avoid or stop the work observed on beaches throughout Cyprus.

At the extraordinary meeting held under the Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Petridis and in the presence of all competent bodies, the goal was set for a comprehensive action plan regarding illegal work carried out on beaches.

The Minister pointed out that the forthcoming legislation should be strictly implemented, while it was stressed that written complaints should be made immediately by the provincial administrations, when they find that illegal work is taking place on beaches.
In this way, as mentioned, the Police will be able to intervene immediately where illegal activities are observed.

Twelve guards have also been appointed to act as observers to prevent such illegal activities.

Criminal investigation against the Municipality of Paralimni

Regarding the works carried out by the Municipality of Paralimni, the Minister of Interior ordered their immediate termination, while for Skoutari beach (Malama), the Minister stated that a complaint has been submitted to the Police against the Municipality of Paralimni and a criminal investigation is underway.
