The inauguration of the building took place today at noon, in which the Department of Urban Planning and Housing of Famagusta and the District Cadastral Office of Famagusta were relocated since last September.

The inauguration was performed by the Minister of Interior Konstantinos Petridis.

It was preceded by consecration by the Metropolitan of Constantia-Famagusta Vassilios and priests of the Famagusta metropolitan region.

He added that the construction of the new offices "with a total area of ​​2,230 square meters does not only serve the citizens in critical areas of everyday life, but is also a critical emotional link with the occupied homeland, as it is stressed that the Turkish invasion may have removed territory from the Famagusta may have led to the creation of the ghost town, but it did not in any way manage to destroy the operating mechanisms of the province ".

After stating that the Turkish invasion "failed to finally sever the ties of the citizens, the people with the land that belongs to them", he noted that "these mechanisms, despite the serious problems they had to face, were activated immediately and their operation offered uninterruptedly. all these years, offering all the necessary services, contributing to the smooth running of the state ".

He added that "the Department of Lands and Surveys is the custodian of real estate and the rights deriving from it" and said that "despite the fact that the intrusion resulted in the Registers and the entire file remaining in the hands of the intruder , managed very soon, to create the temporary registers, for the whole province of Famagusta ".

He added that "the creation of the temporary registers enabled him to continue to offer his services to the residents and owners of real estate, utilizing all the archival material that existed at the Head Office of the Department. In his greeting, President Anastasiadis also stated that "the Department of Lands and Surveys, wanting to further help the development of the free areas of Famagusta, started, as a matter of priority, in the early 1990s, the work of relocation from Free Famagusta, resulting today the whole area to be covered by new high-reliability and precision real estate plans ".

After noting that "the right of property of the inhabitants is secured and is a powerful weapon in the struggle for liberation and reunification of our country", he said that "the Department of Urban Planning and Housing is a post-war Department and supports its operation in legislation passed after the invasion ».
