The fire completely destroyed a brewery and a restaurant in Protaras, while a nearby hotel suffered extensive damage.

In a statement, the spokesman for the Famagusta Police Department, Andreas Konstantinou, stated that “shortly after eleven o'clock on Friday morning, a fire broke out in a restaurant located on Hotel Avenue in Protaras. The fire then spread to an adjacent brewery and hotel.
Men from the Famagusta Police and Fire Department went to the scene and managed to put out the fire.
From the first examinations that were made, it was found that the fire completely destroyed the brewery and the restaurant, while the hotel suffered extensive damage.
At first glance, the possibility of criminal activity was ruled out, however, the Police speculate that the fire was caused by maintenance work carried out in the restaurant.
The exact causes of the fire will be ascertained by examinations carried out by the Police in cooperation with the Fire Brigade and the Electromechanical Service.
