In Kokkinotrimithia, the 14 immigrants who were located off Cape Greco

10 informal migrants who were located last night off Cape Greco were transferred to the accommodation area in Kokkinotrimithia.

Four other people, three minor children and their pregnant mother were taken to the General Hospital for treatment, as the children were dehydrated.

A total of 14 people, 10 men, 1 woman in an advanced stage of pregnancy and 3 children, were collected last night by a Port Police boat, after being in an unmanned boat sailing south of Cape Greco.

According to a press release of the Search and Rescue Coordination Center (KSED) yesterday at 15:38, received an emergency emergency call from a merchant ship, which located a small boat sailing unmanned with a large number of passengers, in the sea area south (Cape Greco 29 nautical miles).

KSED immediately activated the National Special Search and Rescue Plan "NEARCHOS", sending to the area a boat of the Port and Maritime Police with nursing staff of the Ambulance Service of the State Health Services Organization. He also prepared a Helicopter of the Air Operations Squadron of the Police.

The rescue was finally completed at 20:40 by the Akato of the Port and Naval Police, which gathered the 14 people, who were from Syria, and transported them safely to the port of Larnaca.

According to the Police, the rescued are Syrians, they each put in $ 500 and bought the boat and started on their own with a destination in Cyprus from the Syrian-Lebanese border.
