A written announcement of the Famagusta Tourism Development and Promotion Company states that "according to the ratings announced by the well-known website TripAdvisor "Three beaches in the province of Famagusta are among the 25 best in Europe, while one is among the 25 best beaches in the world."
Specifically, according to the website, Fig Tree Bay beach in Protaras has taken the 13th place in the world and the 4th in Europe, Konnos beach in Ayia Napa - Protaras took the 12th place in Europe, while Makronissos beach in Ayia Napa took the 18th place. in Europe.
The President of the Tourism Development and Promotion Company of Famagusta Province, Mayor of Ayia Napa Giannis Karousos stated that "the awards are continuous and deserve the congratulations of all in the Municipalities of Paralimni and Ayia Napa. We see that from year to year our rating improves and now we have beaches that are among not only the best in Europe but also in the best in the world ".
Mr. Karousos noted that "the proper management of our beaches in recent years and the changes we have implemented such as the same management and upgrading of services and infrastructure, began to bring results. "Tripadvisor's awards and ratings are extremely important as it is a website with more than 200 million monthly visits."
According to the President of ETAP Famagusta "if some changes are made so that we can further upgrade our beaches, then we can easily improve more in the coming years. We will have to change some restrictions in the regulations in order to be able to upgrade the beaches ".
We must, he continued, "invest in these awards, promote them, show to the world that there is a destination that has three of the best beaches in Europe and one of the best in the world. In the province of Famagusta we have already started to promote this award and we expect that it will be utilized in a smart and creative way by the Cyprus Tourism Organization ".
After noting that "tripadvisor awards should be displayed abroad and communicated to travel agents and the general public" Mr. Karousos said that "these ratings and awards are dynamic tools to promote tourism in Cyprus and should be promoted in global level".
