The Municipality of Sotira expresses its strong dissatisfaction with the opaque procedures followed by the Cyprus Property Management Company (KEDIPES) during the sale of a property of the former Cooperative Credit Company (SPE) Sotira to an individual.
In a letter sent today by the Mayor and the Municipal Council of Savior to the Minister of Finance, they express their strong dissatisfaction with the issue, asking for the intervention of the competent state bodies, so that the property can be returned to its legal beneficiaries who are none other than the Citizens. of the Savior.
The letter was notified to the Cyprus Property Management Company (KEDIPES) and the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
The letter sent to the Minister of Finance is as follows:
"With surprise and concern, we have been informed of the fact of the sale of a property by KEDIPES. to an individual who belonged to the former Savior Cooperative Credit Company. A sale that clearly contradicts the previous assurances that properties of the former Cooperative would be returned to the communities for public purposes.
The property of hundreds of square meters located in the center of the Municipality, includes in addition to shops and a common parking lot, which daily serves hundreds of residents of the Municipality.
We express our strong dissatisfaction with the opaque procedures that were followed, which took place in secret and without any priority being given to the local authorities. It is noted that the Municipal Council, in a timely manner, informed the competent bodies about its interest in acquiring the specific piece.
The specific development caused the intense and justified reflection but also indignation of the Citizens. Excluding the emotional link that stems from the fact that this particular piece was owned by the Savior's SPE, which was donated to the Church of the Savior so that the Company could cope with the first difficult years after its establishment and protect farmers from "scourge" Of usury, is expected to cause in the distant future many problems in the daily lives of the inhabitants of Sotira.
