With great success and the presence of hundreds of visitors, the 10th Traditional Festival of the Municipality of Sotiras was held last night, organized in collaboration with the local organized ensembles. The Festival was hosted in the traditional core of the Holy Church of the Transfiguration, next to the Byzantine church of Sotiros and the chapel of Agios Georgios.
In his speech, the Mayor of Sotiras, Mr. Georgios Takkas, referred to the continuous efforts of the Local Authority for the development of the Municipality and the progress of its citizens, which is reflected by dozens of projects in all sectors that have been carried out, are in the stage of implementation and planning: "Based on the important elements of culture as well as the requirements of our local society, the Municipality of Sotira works methodically with the sole aim of development. The sustainable development that will come through projects that will bring progress and prosperity to our Municipality. In these difficult and strange years that we are going through as humanity, our work as a Municipality continues with undiminished intensity, in terms of development projects, the social, cultural and environmental responsibility of the Municipality towards the Citizens. The intensity and passion for giving remains undiminished all these years."
In her own greeting, the deputy government representative, Mrs. Doxa Komodromou, who represented the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, among other things, gave credit to the Municipality of Sotiras for organizing the Festival, which has now become an institution in the cultural events of the region and not only: "The Festival, which again this year aims to promote the special characteristics and cultural traits of our country, through various artistic actions that include dance, singing, gastronomy and an exhibition of Cypriot professions, without a doubt contributes to the tracing of the material and immaterial cultural heritage that we as Cypriots carry, being each and every one, bearers of culture".
The Festival was embellished with the special presence of our compatriot songwriter Yiannis Dionysios and his multi-member orchestra, who delighted the visitors with their traditional and popular program.
Traditional dances were presented by the dance groups of Sotiras Municipality.
In the area of the festival, there was a space for traditional professions, while everyone had the opportunity to enjoy traditional dishes.
