The Tourist Commercial Industrial Company of Famagusta is collaborating with the Municipality of Sotiras and in turn invites the local authorities, the business community and the local community to attend the protest event organized by the Municipality of Sotiras, on Sunday 2 July 2023 at 10:30 am on the flyover of Agia Thekla against the decisions condemning the development on the coastal front of Agia Thekla and the wider area of Famagusta.

It is questionable that the Special Ecological Assessment (SEA) report, which annihilates the value of the beachfront and discourages future investment in the area, was drawn up in the absence of the Municipality, essentially negating several of the provisions of the Local Plan of Kokkinohoria, which was actually approved only recently and after seven years of consultations, TEBEA states in a statement.

We consider the fact that the beachfront of Agia Thekla is excluded from the Urban Development Incentives Plan for the Recovery of Business Activity in Cyprus to be unacceptable, making the policy of two meters and two stations that apply to the province of Famagusta compared to the rest of Cyprus obvious.

The announcement then states that as TEBEA we stand against the implementation of half-measures with policies of partial relaxation or the creation of enclaves with special status, but instead we ask for equal treatment in matters of tourist development along the entire length of the coastal area of Sotiras, as we see happening with the neighboring areas and provinces, always in the context of a balanced and sustainable development with proper planning and respect for the environment.

We demand equality and equal rights in development!
